Art of Words

Art in the form of words, story telling, blogging & writing …

Recently rediscovered that the ancient art of writing and speaking with it’s modern incarnations on the internet. Loving all the video blogs, podcasts and readings online. Visual stimulation is only as good as the stories behind them. Check out this list of truly talented and creative people who are so good in their “art of Words”. It really is a skill to be able to speak, articulate and write an idea that paints a picture that is as vivid as the real thing. That is one skill we would have to hone and harvest from within.

Scoutie Girl blog – with Editor, Tara Gentile, giving advice to a group of Etsy DIYers on her own philosophy of giving creative business a “kick start”. A great snippet to “refresh” that creative brain and reconnect those juices. Check out this inspiring video blog.

Crafty Pod is a podcast by Diane Gilleland interviewing and reviewing issues that crafters and artists care about

Firefly Creative Writing is a Toronto based workshop run by Chris Kay. I listened to her first Audio Workshop and was truly inspired. She also has some great links to other great writing / literary sites.

Old and new technology… makes awesome.

Combining old school film technique and new age technology of videography & the mechanical prowess of a new vehicle … DDB has created a winning ad campaign for Subaru’s new impreza. We just had to share this ….

A Blog post about a Blog post.

Just wanted to share a link to Pistil Flower’s latest blog and some beautiful images in August from a day of photo taking at a Dahlia Farm in Acton. Considering the sun was shining with a thunderstorm lingering in the sky, the light was just perfect. These are some images that were not used in the blog post. It’s just so relaxing to see flowers in the field.

Tell me what hasn’t been done before ?

Interesting to see what historical records of Vintage 70′s logos are showing us. Lessons for year 2010 and beyond ? They say “logos are dead”, icons and avatars are here to stay. Wait until our kids are our age … I wonder whether everything become a moving image/ flash animation / video footage. An unknown future awaits us.

Always inspired by images of the old. Have a feeling I might lived a life in the past some time. How else would one relate so dearly to these scenerios … one wonders ?

ABC3D

adbcover

Just wanted to share an awesome find I bought today. It’s the ABD3D book by Marion Bataille. Marion Bataille was born in 1963 and lives and works in France. She is a widely published graphic artist and illustrator who also works for the Pompidou Centre, Le Monde and all the best French Publishers. ABC3D is her first book to be published in the UK.

It goes to show that graphic design can literally “pop off the page” when given to the right creative minds. It’s hard to describe this amazing book, you just have to watch it. This is the Link to the french site. Or Watch the Video.

Doing our part for the Community

It’s finally open after a 2-week long Opening Celebration. The 19th on the Park Centre for the Arts and Entertainment in the heart of Stouffville ended its premiere celebrations with a Volunteer/ Start-up committee BBQ tonight. It has been a fun experience for us to be involved with this community event. Part of our contributions include gathering more than 10 local restaurants to participate in the Premiere Gala… and setting up our Chocolat Truffle booth during one of the opening events called Spring Spirit Day. They were both successful events due to the dedication from the volunteers involved. It’s great to see such commitment and to be a part of it. Thanks to all our friends we bought a box of truffles to support the event and also our supplier (ACL display works) for sponsoring the Acrylic display boxes which we designed for the truffle-stand. And check out our Truffle Menu and custom posters…

Beside us in the event is our dear friend Eilla B. … who is there to support us and the community … selling her FAMOUS muffins and cookies. Thanks for keeping us warm with your hugs and treats on the windy day.

worn in TO

Gotta Love Typography

Have been doing some research on type and came across some pretty cool sites. Here is one featuring Typographic posters. I think the eclectic and spatial nature of each single letter makes them great graphic elements that are cross-genre and cross cultures. The type of today is no longer just to communicate the words, but are themselves a visual statement.

Hardcore typographic addicts visit this site for inspiration and updates on the world of type. The writer is John D Boardley, a graphic designer based in japan. “I love typography” is going to be part of our RSS list for sure.
