It’s a new year, Twenty Ten.
Marks the turn of the 21st Century into the tenths. It is a time for us to look in retrospect at the year that’s past.
Here are Ten snap shots of what we have been up to in 2009 and some insights into achieving a Perfect 10 in the new year.
Just wanted to share an awesome find I bought today. It’s the ABD3D book by Marion Bataille. Marion Bataille was born in 1963 and lives and works in France. She is a widely published graphic artist and illustrator who also works for the Pompidou Centre, Le Monde and all the best French Publishers. ABC3D is her first book to be published in the UK.
It goes to show that graphic design can literally “pop off the page” when given to the right creative minds. It’s hard to describe this amazing book, you just have to watch it. This is the Link to the french site. Or Watch the Video.
It’s amazing. Thanks to my genius husband, I just did what my web-developer has been spending months trying to figure out : putting my blog within my website. It’s simple as a few click away and now I have my entire blog within my main domain. What can I say….but the fact that we all really need to keep up with new technology, web developers included ! Anyway, here it is …
Happy New Year !! The first entry in 2009 is about 6 days late due to all the festivities. We’ve had a good year, with friend’s support and a network of business associates that work hard to help each other. We’re hoping to ramp it up in the new year. Our holiday e-card gives thanks to all who has made our year good. Thanks to my friend Rossana who inspired our illustration of holiday Elfs…
Well, enroute to deliver holiday greetings to clients and friends, we dropped by Quinceflowers to drop off our FAMOUS chocolate truffles. We perfected 6 varieties this year, featuring a laminated wood packaging, printed brown paper wrappers and finished off with baker’s twine and a card made with my new Big-shot die-cut machine. I love the die-cuts …
And coincidentally it was also Rosie’s (Quinceflower’s owner) birthday that day. So it was meant to be and we had to take a shot of the wonderful sign we designed for them.
I think the New Year will be full of such beautiful coincidences….
This might sound crazy, but I just got a die-cut machine and a whole set of rubber stamps to make some promotional materials for muun design. Holiday cards, thank you notes and give aways are in the “plan”. It’s going to be fun ! My first project, just to test out the white ink pad and the flourish stamps…was my notepad / receipt file. Love how it turned out, but the ink is still wet after 2 hours, so we have to figure that out.
Creating Visual Imagery and Brands that Stand Out and Excite !
It is important for us to re-affirm our mission in order to begin a journey where we can guide our clients. We will always listen to our inner voice and follow our design principles instinctively. People say the first instincts are fairly accurate in some cases and that was totally true for one of our projects.
The logo design with Explore After 4 given the go ahead from the first proposal. The initial idea was accurate from the get-go because it was created after in depth research on their competition and their target audience. And i think that is the major difference that MUUN design has against our competitors. We listen, we research and we design with passion.
Oh, just a note that my website is not up yet. So wait for my updates on that.
Today is wednesday and play-date day for my daughter Kay. We typically spend the day hanging out with her little friends in Stouffville and just chilling at home. Work will have to wait for her nap times today.
Just wanted to say that I’m excited to start working on my business plan and getting things going with the business. Let’s see what i did today : updating some information on my coroflot portfolio, adding photos to Muun Design’s profile on facebook and sending out some emails to connect with friends.
It’s a sunny day outside…so enjoy !
As the shoemaker’s daughter who goes around without shoes, I’m still in the process of designing my own brand image and business card. I think it will be a constantly evolving process, but some day I will start my own shoe collection- literally. (i already have 50 pairs to boast) Notice the wide grin on my face right now
The new logo on the left of the wordmark is open to interpretation. It is derived from the shape of a keyhole. But could also be a magnifying device, a wrench, the top of a clown’s hat…or a symbol of a mother and child. In the spirit if vintage styling, it’s made to look like an old stamped image. I was inspired by the antique ephemera and vintage keys that were sold on an Etsy shop called Paper Perfect.
Well, it is just a collection of ideas and things that I love and treasure.
